Yielding Leads to Public Disgrace

Proverbs‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)- “Oh, why didn’t I listen to my teachers? Why didn’t I pay attention to my instructors? I have come to the brink of utter ruin, and now I must face public disgrace.”

The words in this passage express deep regret from someone who wishes they had listened to wise guidance earlier in life. It reminds us that our choices matter, especially when it comes to purity. Sexual immorality can affect not only our hearts but also our bodies. The Bible teaches that unhealthy choices can lead to physical weakness and loss of strength over time. What may seem enjoyable in the moment can bring pain later.

Sometimes, living in sin can shorten a person’s life or lead them further away from God. Continuing in sin without turning back can lead to eternal separation from Him. God desires that we choose life and walk in His ways. He lovingly warns us so that we can avoid regret and instead experience the fullness of life He has prepared for us.

Another important truth is that sin can affect our relationship with God. When we go against His ways, it can make us feel distant from Him and make it harder to connect with Him in prayer. It is not that God leaves us, but sin can create a barrier in our hearts. This passage encourages us to listen to God’s wisdom now, while we have the chance. When we choose to follow Him, we can enjoy peace, closeness with Him, and a life free from shame.

Prayer Point:

Lord, please help me to make choices that honor You. Keep my heart pure and draw me closer to You each day in Jesus name. Amen.
