Heeding Wisdom Before It’s Too Late
Proverbs 5:11–12 (NLT)- “In the end you will groan in anguish when disease consumes your body. You will say, “How I hated discipline! If only I had not ignored all the warnings!”
This passage describes a moment when someone looks back with deep sorrow, wishing they had listened to guidance earlier. Discipline is not meant to limit us, but to care for us and lead us in the right direction. God often speaks through His Word, through wise counsel, and through conviction in our hearts, inviting us to choose what is good.
Overlooking corrections may happen at times when discipline feels uncomfortable hence we may be tempted to ignore it. But when we turn away from guidance again and again, we may miss the protection it offers which can lead to consequences that bring regret instead of peace. Listening and obeying helps us stay on a better path.
There is always hope if we respond to God’s wisdom today with open hearts. His correction is a sign of His love and desire to guide us toward a full and meaningful life. When we choose to remain humble and willing to learn, we can walk in wisdom and avoid unnecessary sorrow. Each day gives us another opportunity to listen and follow His leading.
Prayer Point:
Lord, please help me to welcome correction and embrace discipline with a willing spirit. Open my ears to hear Your guidance so that I may live in peace and reflect Your love in Jesus name. Amen.
