Wisdom Must Be Our First Priority
Proverbs 4:7 (KJV)- “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: And with all thy getting get understanding.”
This verse gently reminds us that wisdom should be one of the most important things we pursue in life. Many people spend their time chasing wealth, recognition, or success, hoping these things will secure their future. While these pursuits are not wrong in themselves, Scripture teaches that wisdom is far more valuable because it helps guide every area of our lives. When we grow in wisdom, we are better able to make thoughtful decisions about our relationships, responsibilities, and the resources entrusted to us.
Godly wisdom is more than knowledge or intelligence. It is the ability to apply God’s truth in our everyday lives. Someone may have education or many skills and still find it difficult to make wise choices. Wisdom helps us discern what is right, recognize what truly matters, and choose paths that reflect God’s will. It gently guides us so that we are not led only by emotions, impulses, or the pressures around us.
When we begin to place wisdom first, our lives become more intentional and purposeful. Our focus gradually shifts from temporary achievements to things that have lasting value. As we seek God’s wisdom each day, we invite Him to guide our thoughts, decisions, and actions so that our lives reflect His truth and grace.
Prayer Point:
Lord, help me to value wisdom in my daily life. Teach me to seek Your guidance above everything else and lead me to make choices that honor You each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
