The Danger of Frolicking with a Harlot
Proverbs 7:9–11 (KJV)- “In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night: And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house.)”
Sin often thrives in darkness, secrecy, hidden motives, and moral compromise. The young man’s choice to wander at such an hour reflects indiscipline and a heart already drifting toward danger. Anyone who engages in sexual sins is living in spiritual darkness and lacks the like of Christ. Frolicking with a harlot, whether physical or through entertaining lustful thoughts and, explicit videos thrives only in darkness.
Scripture warns that what begins as pleasure can quickly become bondage, leading to guilt, emotional wounds, and distance from God. The deceptive nature of temptation is aggressive, persuasive, and relentless. It may feel pleasurable, exciting, and satisfactory but behind lies a trap designed to capture the soul. The greater danger is that an unrepentant life of sin reveals a heart far from God and on a path leading to destruction.
What begins as a casual encounter can evolve into a destructive stronghold. Slowly it dulls discernment, weakens self-control, and hardens the heart toward God’s voice. God calls His people to resist temptation when it appears, and to avoid the pathways that lead to it. Wisdom teaches us to flee environments, relationships, and habits that invite compromise.
Prayer Point:
Father, grant me the wisdom to avoid every path that leads to temptation and to reject compromise. Help me to walk in holiness according to Your Word, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
