Fornication and Adultery Leads to Poverty and Death

Proverbs 6:26–27 (NLT)- “For a prostitute will bring you to poverty, but sleeping with another man’s wife will cost you your life. Can a man scoop a flame into his lap and not have his clothes catch on fire?”

This verse speaks of how giving in to harmful desires can drain a person’s resources, energy, and focus. What may begin as something that feels appealing or harmless gradually take more than it gives, leaving a person feeling depleted. They begin to experience material poverty, the loss of peace, dignity, and clarity of purpose.

Our choices that disregard commitment and trust can have far-reaching consequences on our life and the lives of others. The emphasis here is on the value of integrity and the importance of honoring relationships. Making wise relationship choices protects not only our future but also the emotional and spiritual well-being of everyone involved.

Finally, when we play with fire, we will be burned. The principal of cause and effect reminds us that some actions naturally carry consequences, no matter how confident or careful we think we are. Therefore we must recognize implicating patterns early and choose restraint. Do not throw caution to the wind thinking there is a safety net waiting for you when you fall.

Prayer Point:
Lord, please grant me wisdom to recognize choices that may harm my life and relationships. Help me to walk in integrity, exercise self-control, and choose what leads to peace, strength, and lasting fulfillment in Jesus name. Amen.
