Guarding the Heart from Deceit
Proverbs 6:12-13 (NLT)- “What are worthless and wicked people like? They are constant liars, signaling their deceit with a wink of the eye, a nudge of the foot, or the wiggle of fingers.”
This passage paints a vivid picture of the character of a deceitful person, someone whose words cannot be trusted and whose actions may carry hidden intentions. God invites us to see that integrity is not only about what we say openly, but also about what we express in other forms of communication.
We should regularly examine our own hearts for moments when we are not completely honest or when our actions do not fully match our words. At times, this can happen in small ways such as exaggeration or leaving out details. Choosing to speak and walk in truth will build trust and strengthen our relationships with others because we reflect God’s character in our daily lives.
Daily walking in integrity, even in the smallest detaill will reveal any areas where greater honesty is needed and to guide us toward a pure and sincere heart. Our verbal and non- verbal communication must be clear, our actions genuine, and our motives shaped by truth. As we grow in this way, we honor God and become people others can depend on with confidence.
Prayer Point:
Heavenly Father, please search my heart and gently reveal anything in me that is not aligned with truth. Let my words and actions agree, and to live with integrity each day in Jesus name. Amen.
