Setting Healthy Boundaries Against Sexual Temptation
Proverbs 5:7–8 (NLT)- “So now, my sons, listen to me. Never stray from what I am about to say: Stay away from her! Don’t go near the door of her house!”
This verse teaches Christians the importance of setting boundaries when dealing with the opposite sex. The godly instruction to stay away is to protect us from the danger of leaving God’s presence. When we leave His presence we loose protection and become susceptible to all the wiles of Satan.
The instruction to stay away and not go near temptation shows that God wants His children to avoid not only sin itself, but also the situations that can lead to sin. Often, spiritual compromise begins when we allow themselves to get too close to harmful influences, believing we can resist when the time comes. We must be wise enough to create distance between themselves and anything that may weaken their walk with God.
God’s warnings are given out of love and protection. He want us to understands the consequences of sin and desires to protect His children from pain, regret, and spiritual harm. By obeying His instructions and setting healthy boundaries, we can walk in purity, wisdom, and the fullness of the life God desires for them.
Prayer Point:
Lord, please give me wisdom to recognize temptation and the strength to stay far from anything that may draw me away from You in Jesus name. Amen.
