Keeping God’s Word Close

Proverbs 4:20-22 (KJV)- “My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh.”

This verse is a gentle invitation to listen to God. We “attend to His words,” by slowing down to pay attention to what God is saying. Life can be busy and full of distractions, but God desires for us to choose His voice first. Take small moments each day to read the Bible and and listen for His instructions. Over time, it becomes easier to recognize His guidance in our lives.

This passage also encourages us to keep God’s Word close to us at all times. This simply means thinking about what we read and letting it stay in our hearts. As we do this, God’s truth begins to shape how we think and respond to situations. Little by little, you will notice changes in your attitude, your choices, and your peace of mind. Soon we will observe how wise we have become because obedience increases wisdom.

God also promises that His Word will bring life and health. It will bring strength, comfort, and hope, even when things are difficult. The light of God will shine in all our ways. As we continue to grow, we will find His Word as a source of encouragement and healing steadily supporting us, no matter what we face.

Prayer Point:

Lord, help me to remember what I read, and to trust You in all things. Let Your Word bring peace, strength, and healing into my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
