The Price of Folly
Proverbs 3:35 (NLT)- “The wise inherit honor, but fools are put to shame!”
The second part of this verse says, “but fools are put to shame.” In Proverbs, a fool is someone who ignores God’s guidance and chooses their own way without seeking wisdom. Fools are put to shame because they consistently reject wisdom, refuse correction, and choose pride over humility. When a person continually turns away from wise instruction, their choices eventually lead to painful consequences.
Shame is often the natural result of unwise choices. When we ignore good advice or act selfishly, the outcome can bring regret. God does not warn us to frighten us. He warns us because He loves us and wants to protect us from pain. His wisdom helps us avoid unnecessary hurt and guides us toward peace. When someone acts dishonestly, carelessly, or stubbornly, trust can be broken and respect can be lost. Over time, those choices become visible, and the result is embarrassment or regret.
The good news is that through shame is never the end of the story. When we turn back to God and seek His help, He restores us back to glory and honor and teaches us. He is patient with beginners in faith and faithful to guide every willing heart.
Prayer Point:
Father, guard my heart from pride and foolish choices. When I drift, gently bring me back to Your wisdom. Thank You for Your patience and restoring love in Jesus name, amen.
