Acknowledging God as Our Source
Proverbs 3:6 (KJV)
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
To acknowledge God means more than simply believing in His existence. It means recognizing Him as active, present, and sovereign over every area of our lives. We acknowledge God when we see Him as our Source, Sustainer, Strength, Shield, and Savior.
Today, we will focus on God as our Source. He is the originator of every good thing that makes us who we are and all that we will ever become. When this understanding is firmly established in our hearts, gratitude becomes a daily responsibility. We must intentionally thank God for life, breath, work, family, and His continual provision.
One of God’s names is Jehovah Jireh, meaning The Lord Our Provider. He supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory. He gives us the power to create wealth so that we may be a blessing to others. In Genesis 1 verse 28, we see God’s expectation for His creation: to be fruitful, multiply, subdue, and have dominion over the earth.
Before making decisions, we must seek His will and humbly ask, “Lord, what do You want?” Remaining connected to our Source requires that we walk in righteousness, reject pride, and turn away from all forms of evil. To grow in Him, we must consistently read the Bible, allowing God’s Word to reveal His heart and impart His wisdom to us.
Prayer
Father God, I acknowledge You today as my Source. Help me to trust You with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding. Guide my steps, direct my path, and teach me to walk with You each day. I place my life fully in Your hands in Jesus’ name, Amen.
