Avoiding Perverse Talks
Proverbs 4:24 (NLT)- “Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.”
This verse teaches us to be careful with what we say because our words are powerful. They can encourage people or hurt them. Abstain from negative or harmful speech and instead choose words that are kind, uplifting to the soul, and full of love. Make it a habit to practice speaking in a way that pleases Jesus.
Our words are shaped from the inside. The things we think about and hold in our hearts often come out in our words. If we are feeling angry, bitter, or upset, it will show in how we speak. But as we spend time with God and His Word, He begins to change our hearts. As our heart becomes softer and more like His, our words will also begin to reflect that love and peace.
Always ask yourself if your words will help or hurt. Will it heal or break the soul. Sometimes choosing not to say anything is the best choice. Other times, speaking life and encouragement to someone who needs it is necessary. God is with us in this journey, helping you become people who exhibit self control in our speech and whose words bring comfort, truth, and hope to others.
Prayer Point:
Lord, please help me to use my words in a way that pleases You and blesses others. Change my heart so that my speech reflects Your love in Jesus name, Amen.
