Avoiding The Company of Evil Doers
Proverbs 4:16–17 (NLT)- “For evil people can’t sleep until they’ve done their evil deed for the day. They can’t rest until they’ve caused someone to stumble. They eat the food of wickedness and drink the wine of violence!”
This passage offers a gentle reminder of how our daily habits can shape who we become. It describes people who have grown so used to doing wrong that it feels natural to them, almost like part of their daily routine. It is important to take note of what are we consistently allowing into our hearts and mind because over time, even small choices can influence our character in meaningful ways.
God, in His love, calls us into a better and more life giving way. Instead of being driven by harmful patterns, we are invited to find peace and fulfillment in doing what is right. When we choose kindness, patience, and truth, even in small moments, we begin to build a life that feels steady and aligned with His purpose. These choices may seem simple, but they carry the power to shape our thoughts, actions, and relationships for the better.
We must also stay mindful of the environments and influences around us. Not everyone we encounter will act with good intentions, but we can choose how we respond. With God’s help, we can remain grounded, respond with grace, and continue to walk in love. Never be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good. Nothing shall harm you if you are a follower of that which is good. In doing so, we become a quiet light, reflecting goodness in a way that can positively impact others.
Prayer Point:
Lord, guide my heart toward what is good and pleasing to You. Help me to make choices each day that reflect Your love, and give me the strength to respond with grace in every situation in Jesus name. Amen.
