THE VALUE OF LISTENING TO COUNSEL
Proverbs 1:23 (NLT)- “Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.”
Developing the habit of listening to wise counsel leads to a life marked by fewer mistakes. Many people who live with regret are those who relied solely on their own understanding and failed to recognize the importance of receiving guidance from others.
Today, God calls us to listen to His counsel so that He may reveal His heart to us. Through obedience and attentiveness, He shares divine blueprints and hidden wisdom for victorious living. Since life is filled with uncertainties, we must not act based solely on human reasoning or limited knowledge. Instead, we should consistently seek God’s will and invite His perspective into every decision we make.
In addition, God often speaks through tutors and mentors such as parents, teachers, pastors, and other seasoned individuals who are spiritually grounded and rich in life experience. Seeking the counsel of the wise is a mark of humility and maturity. When multiple people offer warnings or express concern about a situation or a relationship, it is prudent to pay close attention. Being forewarned is indeed being forearmed.
Prayer Point: Father, help me to obey wise counsel. Deliver me from haste in spirit and mind, and guide me away from impulsive and costly decisions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
